Polutánsok

Polutánsok, also known as "polutan" or "polután," are a traditional Hungarian folk dance and musical genre originating from the Transdanubian region, particularly in the villages around Lake Balaton. The term "polután" is derived from the Hungarian word "polca," which refers to a type of polka dance, but it carries a distinct local flavor.

Polutánsok are characterized by their lively, rhythmic music, typically played on instruments such as the *hurdy-gurdy* (called *csárdásfurulya* or *polutánfurulya*), accordion, violin, and double bass. The music often features a fast tempo, syncopated rhythms, and a mix of Hungarian folk melodies with influences from neighboring cultures, such as Slovak and Croatian.
