Polovodie
Polovodie (половодье) is a hydrological term used to describe the seasonal rise in river water levels caused by snowmelt and spring rains, resulting in temporary flooding of river valleys. The phenomenon is common in temperate and cold regions with substantial snowpacks and is often referred to in English as a freshet.
