Pollonia

Pollonia is a small coastal village on the northern coast of Milos in the Cyclades, Greece. It is commonly referred to as Pollonia, with Apollonia used in some contexts. The village sits in a sheltered natural harbor facing the island of Kimolos and is about 9–12 kilometers by road from Adamas, Milos’s main port. Pollonia retains a traditional Cycladic character, with whitewashed houses, narrow lanes, and sea-facing architecture.

The harbor is the focal point of Pollonia, used by fishing boats and small passenger vessels. The waterfront is lined with tavernas, cafes, and guesthouses that serve locals and visitors alike. Nearby coastal scenery includes Pollonia Beach and sea caves such as Papafragas, located a short distance to the north, which attract swimmers and snorkelers.

Economy and tourism play major roles in the village. Pollonia serves as a base for fishing activity and as a gateway for visitors seeking boat trips to Kimolos, snorkeling, diving, and coastal exploration around Milos. Access to Pollonia is by road from Adamas and other Milos settlements, with seasonal bus services common in the tourist season. The island’s airport is Milos National Airport, near Adamas, providing connections to the Greek mainland and other islands, while ferries link Milos to Piraeus and other ports.
