PolishAmericans
Polish Americans are citizens of the United States whose ancestry originates from Poland. They represent one of the largest ethnic groups in the United States, with significant communities found throughout the Midwest, particularly in states like Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin, as well as in New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. The initial waves of Polish immigration to the U.S. occurred in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, driven by economic hardship, political oppression, and a desire for opportunity in America. Later immigration also occurred after World War II and following the Solidarity movement in Poland.
Historically, many Polish immigrants settled in urban industrial centers, working in factories, mines, and steel mills.
