A simple example of a polinomo is x^2 + 2x - 3. The parts of a polinomo separated by plus or minus signs are called terms. In the example x^2 + 2x - 3, the terms are x^2, 2x, and -3. The highest power of the variable in a polinomo is called the degree of the polinomo. In x^2 + 2x - 3, the degree is 2. Polinomos can have one variable, like the example, or multiple variables. For instance, x^2y + 3xy^2 - 5 is a polinomo with two variables, x and y.
