Platinavastuslämpömittari

Platinavastuslämpömittari, often abbreviated as Pt100, is a type of resistance thermometer that utilizes the principle that the electrical resistance of platinum changes predictably with temperature. It is a widely used sensor for measuring temperature accurately across a broad range. The sensor element is typically a coil of fine platinum wire wound around a ceramic core, or a thin film of platinum deposited onto a ceramic substrate.

The "100" in Pt100 refers to the sensor's resistance in ohms at 0 degrees Celsius. As the temperature increases, the resistance of the platinum wire also increases. This change in resistance can be measured and converted into a temperature reading using a suitable electronic circuit. The relationship between resistance and temperature is highly linear over a significant temperature range, making Pt100 sensors very reliable and accurate.

Pt100 sensors are known for their stability, accuracy, and wide operating temperature range, which can extend from below -200 °C to over 850 °C, depending on the specific construction and insulation. They are commonly used in industrial process control, laboratory equipment, scientific research, and any application where precise temperature measurement is critical. Due to the relatively low resistance change and the need for accurate measurement, these sensors are often connected using a three-wire or four-wire configuration to compensate for the resistance of the connecting wires, further enhancing accuracy.
