Pixeltäthet

Pixeltäthet, often referred to as resolution or pixel density, is a measure of how many individual pixels are displayed within a given area on a screen. It is typically expressed as pixels per inch (PPI) or, less commonly, pixels per centimeter (PPCM). A higher pixeltäthet means that more pixels are packed into the same physical space, resulting in sharper and more detailed images.

The concept of pixeltäthet is crucial for understanding display quality. On devices like smartphones, tablets, and computer monitors, higher PPI generally leads to a smoother visual experience. Text appears crisper, fine details in photographs are more apparent, and images look less "pixelated" or blocky. This is because the individual pixels become so small and densely packed that the human eye has difficulty distinguishing them, creating the illusion of a continuous image.

Conversely, a lower pixeltäthet means pixels are larger and more spread out. This can lead to images and text appearing less defined and potentially exhibiting a "screen door effect," where the gaps between pixels are noticeable. Screen size and resolution are directly related to pixeltäthet. A large screen with a low resolution will have a lower pixeltäthet than a small screen with the same resolution. When comparing displays, it's important to consider both the physical dimensions and the total number of pixels to accurately assess pixeltäthet.
