Pixelenheter

Pixelenheter, also known as pixels, are the smallest physical or logical controllable element of a picture represented on a screen. The term "pixel" is a portmanteau of "picture element." In digital imaging, a pixel is the smallest addressable element in an array of digital values that can be displayed on a screen. Each pixel has a specific location and intensity. When combined with millions of other pixels, they form a complete image.

The density of pixels on a display is measured in pixels per inch (PPI). A higher PPI indicates a sharper and more detailed image because the individual pixels are smaller and closer together. The resolution of a display, often expressed as a width by height dimension (e.g., 1920x1080), refers to the total number of pixels that can be displayed horizontally and vertically. More pixels generally result in a crisper image, especially when viewed up close or when displaying fine details.

In web design and user interface development, "px" is a common unit for specifying lengths, such as font sizes or element dimensions. While often referred to as "pixels," this unit can be relative to the viewing device's resolution and pixel density, aiming to provide a consistent visual size across different screens, though its exact physical size is not fixed.
