Pistonpumput

Pistonpumput, also known as reciprocating pumps or piston pumps, are a type of positive displacement pump. They operate by using a piston moving back and forth within a cylinder to displace a fluid. This reciprocating motion is typically driven by a crankshaft and connecting rod, similar to an internal combustion engine. As the piston moves outwards, it creates a vacuum, drawing fluid into the cylinder through an intake valve. On the return stroke, the piston moves inwards, compressing the fluid and forcing it out through an outlet valve.

Pistonpumput are known for their ability to generate high pressures and handle a wide range of fluid viscosities. They are commonly used in applications requiring precise metering of fluids, such as in chemical dosing systems, fuel injection in engines, and in hydraulic systems. They can also be employed for pumping water, oil, and other liquids in industrial processes. The design allows for a consistent flow rate, though pulsations can occur due to the nature of the reciprocating action. Valve design, such as the use of check valves or poppet valves, is critical for efficient operation and preventing backflow.
