Pirosat

Pirosat is a term that can refer to several things, most notably a type of Hungarian pastry or a formerly used Soviet/Russian satellite designation.

In Hungarian cuisine, piroska or pirosat (depending on regional dialect or slightly older spelling) generally refers to a sweet, often fried dough pastry. These are typically filled with various ingredients such as jam, cheese, or sometimes meat. They can be dusted with powdered sugar or served plain. The dough is usually yeasted and fried until golden brown, giving it a slightly crispy exterior and a soft interior. Pirosat are a popular snack or dessert in Hungary and are often found in bakeries and at local markets.

The term pirosat may also appear in the context of satellite nomenclature. Historically, the Soviet Union and later Russia used designations that sometimes included "pirosat" or similar-sounding terms within their satellite tracking and identification systems. These were internal designations and not generally widely known outside of specialized circles. They did not refer to a specific type of satellite technology but rather served as part of a cataloging system.
