Pihapiirit

Pihapiirit is the Finnish plural of pihapiiri, a term referring to a courtyard or yard complex and the ensemble of buildings, open spaces and functions arranged around it. In traditional rural Finland a pihapiiri typically centers on a farmhouse and includes ancillary structures such as barns, granaries, stables, sheds and a separate sauna, organized around a common yard used for work, storage and social activities.
