Pigmenttipainatukset

Pigmenttipainatukset, often translated as pigment printing, is a textile printing technique where color is applied to the surface of the fabric using a pigment binder. Unlike dyeing, where the color penetrates the fibers, pigments sit on top of the material. This method is versatile and can be used on a wide range of natural and synthetic fibers, including cotton, polyester, and blends.

The process typically involves mixing pigments with a binder, which acts as an adhesive to fix the color to the fabric. This mixture is then applied to the textile through various methods, such as screen printing, rotary printing, or digital printing. After application, the fabric is usually heated (cured) to set the pigment and binder, ensuring the color is wash-fast and durable.

Pigment printing offers several advantages. It is known for its good lightfastness and resistance to washing. It can achieve a wide spectrum of colors, including bright and opaque hues, and is suitable for printing intricate designs. Furthermore, it often has a softer feel on the fabric compared to some other printing methods because the pigments don't penetrate the fibers. However, achieving very deep penetration or a completely soft handle can sometimes be challenging depending on the binder and printing process used. This technique is widely employed in the fashion, home decor, and technical textile industries due to its adaptability and cost-effectiveness for many applications.
