Phonografie
Phonografie refers to the visual representation of sound waves. It is a method of displaying the characteristics of sound in a graphical form. This can involve showing the amplitude, frequency, and duration of sound over time. Early forms of phonografie involved mechanical devices that etched sound wave patterns onto surfaces, such as wax cylinders. These etchings were a direct representation of the vibrations caused by sound.
Modern phonografie is primarily digital. Sophisticated software analyzes audio signals and translates them into visual displays.
