Pfahlramme
Pfahlramme is the German term for a pile driver, a machine used to drive piles (long structural elements) into soil to provide deep foundations for buildings, bridges, and other structures. The equipment lifts a heavy weight and drops it onto the head of a pile or uses hydraulic, diesel, or vibratory systems to transfer energy that embeds the pile into the ground. Piles may be made of timber, steel, or concrete and are selected according to load requirements and subsurface conditions.
Historically, pile driving was done manually or with simple drop hammers and later with steam-powered and diesel-powered
Operation requires consideration of soil stratigraphy, pile capacity, driving criteria, and environmental constraints. Environmental concerns include
