The Perseids is an annual meteor shower that occurs in the Northern Hemisphere, typically between July 17 and August 24, with the peak occurring around August 12 or 13. The shower is caused by the Earth passing through the debris left behind by the comet Swift-Tuttle. The meteors appear to radiate from the constellation Perseus, hence the name Perseids.
