Perkilowatt is a unit of measurement used to express a rate or cost associated with electrical energy consumption. It signifies the cost or quantity of a service or product per kilowatt of power demand. While kilowatt (kW) measures power, perkilowatt refers to a value derived from that power. For instance, in electricity pricing, a rate might be stated as dollars per kilowatt per month, indicating the fixed charge for the maximum power a customer can draw from the grid during that billing period, regardless of how much energy they actually consume.

This concept is distinct from the cost of kilowatt-hours (kWh), which measures energy consumed over time. Perkilowatt charges often reflect the infrastructure costs borne by the utility provider to ensure that sufficient capacity is available to meet peak demand.
