Perineaalialueilla refers to the perineum, the anatomical region located between the anus and the pubic symphysis in both males and females. It is a diamond-shaped area. In females, the perineum extends from the posterior part of the vulva to the anus. In males, it extends from the scrotum to the anus. This region is primarily composed of muscles and connective tissues that form the pelvic floor. These muscles play a crucial role in supporting pelvic organs such as the bladder, uterus, and rectum.

The perineum is an important area during childbirth. In women, it can stretch significantly to allow the passage of the baby.
