Pentaxodontomorphs
Pentaxodontomorphs are a group of extinct mammals that lived during the Paleogene and Neogene periods, approximately 66 to 2.6 million years ago. They are characterized by their pentadactyl (five-toed) feet, which is a unique feature among mammals. Pentaxodontomorphs are believed to have evolved from early mammals that had pentadactyl feet, and they include several well-known groups such as the early primates, the early ungulates, and the early carnivorans.
The earliest known pentaxodontomorphs appeared in the late Cretaceous period, around the time of the mass extinction
Pentaxodontomorphs are an important group of mammals because they represent an early stage in the evolution
