Peliasetus
Peliasetus is a genus of extinct toothed whales that lived during the Oligocene epoch, approximately 34 to 23 million years ago. Fossil remains of Peliasetus have been found in Europe, particularly in Belgium and the United Kingdom. These early whales were likely marine predators, feeding on fish and other small marine animals.
The genus Peliasetus belongs to the Odontoceti suborder, which encompasses all toothed whales, including modern dolphins
The discovery of Peliasetus fossils provides valuable insights into the early evolution and diversification of whales.
