Pathologydependent

Pathologydependent is an adjective used in medical and biomedical discourse to describe phenomena whose occurrence, magnitude, or interpretation depends on the underlying pathological state. A pathologydependent effect may only manifest in diseased tissue or require features such as inflammation, necrosis, fibrosis, or neoplastic transformation to be observable. The term underscores that normal physiology or non-diseased controls may fail to reveal certain properties.

Applications: In research, describing a biomarker expressed exclusively in tumor tissue would be pathologydependent.
