Parylenebased refers to materials or coatings that utilize parylene as a primary component. Parylene is a generic name for a family of poly(p-xylylene) polymers. These polymers are known for their exceptional properties, including chemical inertness, excellent dielectric strength, and conformal coating capabilities. The unique deposition process of parylene, known as chemical vapor deposition (CVD), allows for the creation of thin, uniform, and pinhole-free films on virtually any substrate, regardless of its shape or complexity.

The parylenebased coating process involves vaporizing a solid cyclic dimer of parylene at elevated temperatures and then thermally cracking it into reactive monomers.
