Panoraamvaateid

Panoraamvaateid is the Estonian term for panoramic views, referring to wide-angle representations that cover a broad field of vision, typically produced by panoramas in photography, art, or media. In photography, panoraamvaateid are created by stitching multiple overlapping images using software, by using a dedicated panoramic camera, or by capturing with a wide-angle lens and carefully composing to minimize distortion. The resulting views can be presented as flat, elongated images or as interactive 360-degree panoramas that allow the viewer to look around.

They are widely used in tourism marketing, architecture visualization, real estate showcases, landscape documentation, and geospatial mapping. Digital panoramas are often browsed on desktops or mobile devices, with navigation via mouse, touch, or keyboard, and some are embedded in virtual reality environments. The term derives from the broader panorama concept, rooted in 18th- and 19th-century art and photography traditions, and is commonly used in Estonian-language media to describe wide, continuous scenes. International terminology includes panorama and panoramic image, but panoraamvaateid remains a standard plural form in Estonian contexts. In practice, the concept covers both single wide-field images and multi-image composites that together create a seamless, expansive vantage point.
