Palmists

Palmistry, also known as chiromancy, is a practice of fortune-telling by studying the palm of a person's hand. Practitioners, often referred to as palmists or chiromancers, believe that the lines, shapes, and mounts on the hand reveal information about a person's character, past, present, and future. The practice is ancient, with historical roots found in Indian astrology, Chinese geomancy, and various European traditions.

Palmists interpret different features of the hand. The major lines, such as the life line, head line, and heart line, are believed to indicate significant aspects of a person's life, including longevity, intellect, and emotional capacity. Secondary lines and minor markings are also observed and interpreted. The shape of the hand and fingers, as well as the prominence of the fleshy mounds (mounts) on the palm, are also considered significant. Each mount is associated with a particular planet and its corresponding traits.

While widely practiced in various cultures throughout history, palmistry is generally considered a pseudoscience by the scientific community. There is no empirical evidence to support its claims of predictive accuracy or its ability to reveal character traits. Nevertheless, it continues to be a popular form of divination and entertainment for many individuals. The interpretation of palmistry can vary significantly between different traditions and individual practitioners.
