Palgapäringute

Palgapäringute, also known as Alps or Gasprench, is a municipality in the district of Feldkirchen in the Austrian state of Carinthia. The municipality is situated in the western part of the district, approximately 20 kilometers north of the city of Feldkirchen in Carinthia and about 100 kilometers southeast of the Austrian city of Bregenz.

The municipality comprises the villages of Palgieß and Gassluch, which are the main population centers. Palgapäringute is bordered by the municipality to the north, the city of Lavamünd to the east, and the municipality of Treibach to the south. The terrain is primarily mountainous, with forests dominating the landscape, and the area experiences a temperate climate with significant precipitation throughout the year.

The population of Palgapäringute is relatively small, with approximately 730 residents as of 2019. The local economy is primarily driven by agriculture and forestry. The area is known for its picturesque villages and natural beauty, attracting tourists who come to enjoy the scenery and outdoor activities like hiking and skiing.

Historically, the municipality has undergone changes, including a brief period during World War II when it was annexed by Nazi Germany. Following the war, Austria regained control, and Palgapäringute remained a rural agricultural community with limited industry. Today, the focus remains on preserving the local culture and natural heritage, evident in the area's traditional architecture, cuisine, and community events.
