Pakettihissit

Pakettihissit are a type of elevator system commonly used in high-rise buildings, particularly in office and residential complexes in Finland and other parts of Europe. The name "Pakettihissit" is Finnish, translating to "package elevators" or "assembly-line elevators" in English.

The Pakettihissit system involves a bank of elevators that work in tandem to transport groups of people between floors. Each elevator is designed to carry a small number of passengers, usually no more than 2-4 people, and travels to a specific set of destinations, such as several floors on the upper or lower ends of a building. The elevators are typically joined together by a simple guide rail system that allows them to travel along the same route, making the system efficient and space-saving.

When a passenger calls for the elevator, the first available elevator in the bank travels to that floor. While the passenger is being carried to their destination, the next elevator in the bank prepares to take the next passenger. This synchronized system allows multiple elevators to work together to reduce wait times and increase the capacity of the system. Pakettihissit elevators are often found in older buildings and are considered a more traditional type of elevator system.

The Pakettihissit system is designed to be a cost-effective and efficient way to transport people between floors in large buildings. However, it is not as common as other types of elevator systems, such as traction elevators or Otis Gen2 elevators.
