Geography and demographics: Paikadel comprises nineteen islands in waters of the Sugor Sea. The main archipelago spans about 7,000 square kilometers; climate varies from tropical along the northern isles to subtropical in southern regions. The population is diverse, with urban centers on the island of Altara and smaller port towns across the chain.

History: Human settlement dates to the early medieval era. It formed a loose confederation known as the Paikadel League in the 13th century; consolidated into a constitutional republic following decolonization in the mid-20th century.
