Padangbai

Padangbai is a small coastal town on Bali's east coast in Indonesia. It lies along the Bali Strait opposite Lombok and is part of Karangasem Regency. The town's harbor forms a major ferry terminal, with regular services to Lombok and the Gili Islands. The port also handles local fishing boats and cargo.

Padangbai is a popular entry point for divers and snorkelers. The area offers several beaches and sheltered bays with clear water, including Bias Tugel Beach and the Blue Lagoon, as well as nearby reef sites that attract both beginner and experienced divers. In addition to diving and snorkeling, visitors use Padangbai for sea-view walks, seafood dining, and simple beach relaxation.

Tourism infrastructure includes guesthouses, mid-range hotels, dive centers, and waterfront restaurants. Visitors typically arrive by road from Denpasar or other Bali towns, and local transport options include taxis and motorbike rentals. The town is quieter than some other Bali destinations, and acts as a gateway to attractions in eastern Bali, such as other beaches, temples, and inland landscapes.
