Paalinti

Paalinti is a term that appears in some Lithuanian-language texts but is generally regarded as nonstandard. The standard infinitive form for the verb “to remove” is pašalinti, which covers meanings such as removing an object, eliminating an element, or dismissing someone from a position.

Linguists typically treat paalinti as a misspelling or dialectal/colloquial variant of pašalinti, often arising from typographical errors, confusion with the letter š, or phonetic simplification in informal speech. Because of this, paalinti is rarely encountered in formal writing and is not routinely listed in major dictionaries as an accepted form. When it does occur, it is usually within informal communication, learner text, or informal online content.

Semantically, paalinti is expected to convey the same general range as pašalinti, namely the action of removing or eliminating something from a place, situation, or context. In standard usage, the nuances are carried by pašalinti and its related forms such as pašalinimas (the act of removing) and šalinimas (removal or distancing), whereas paalinti lacks established, standardized acceptability in formal Lithuanian.
