PVBZwischenschicht, short for polyvinyl butyral interlayer, is a clear plastic film used to bond glass panes in laminated glazing. It is positioned between glass sheets during the lamination process and, after heating and pressure, forms a single, cohesive safety unit. The interlayer helps hold glass fragments in place during breakage, reducing the risk of injury and improving impact resistance. Additional benefits often include UV light filtration and some degree of sound insulation.
