Oxidatiivisia is a Finnish term that translates to "oxidative" in English. It refers to processes involving oxidation, which is a chemical reaction that results in the loss of electrons or an increase in oxidation state of an atom, molecule, or ion. In biological contexts, oxidative processes are fundamental to cellular respiration, where glucose is broken down in the presence of oxygen to produce energy (ATP). These reactions involve the transfer of electrons through a series of protein complexes.
