Osuusmerkinnät

Osuusmerkinnät, often translated as "share markings" or "stock markings," are a traditional method used in the Finnish forestry industry for identifying and marking trees that are part of a communal or shared forest ownership. Historically, when multiple individuals or families owned a forest jointly, it was common to mark individual trees to denote ownership or to designate them for specific purposes such as logging or grazing. These markings could take various forms, including notches, paint, or carved symbols on the tree trunk.
