Ornos

Ornos is a coastal village and beach resort on the island of Mykonos, Greece. It is located on the southwest coast of the island, a short distance from Mykonos Town (Chora). The centerpiece is Ornos Beach, a long, sandy bay with clear, shallow waters that make it popular with families and swimmers. A small harbor at the mouth of the bay accommodates fishing boats and pleasure craft, contributing to the village’s maritime character.

In recent decades Ornos has developed into a tourism-focused area. The waterfront and surrounding streets host a range of hotels, rental apartments, tavernas, cafes, and shops, while several beach clubs and upscale restaurants cater to visitors. The architecture blends traditional Cycladic white houses with modern facilities.

Ornos is well connected to Mykonos Town by regular bus service, as well as by taxi or car. The neighborhood provides easy access to the island’s beaches, boat trips, and the broader range of attractions on Mykonos, while typically offering a quieter atmosphere than the central town.

Administratively, Ornos is part of the municipality of Mykonos in the South Aegean region of Greece. The area’s economy remains heavily dependent on tourism, with seasonal fluctuations influencing employment and services.
