Orewin

Orewin is a small town and civil parish in the fictional country of Norlandia, located in the Alderwood region along the Orewin River. It is about 40 kilometers north of the national capital and encompasses approximately 24 square kilometers. The surrounding countryside is primarily mixed farmland with several woodlands.

Orewin traces its origins to a medieval settlement near a parish church. The current church dates to the 14th century, with later restorations. The town expanded in the 19th century after the arrival of the railway, becoming a center for agriculture and small-scale manufacturing. In the late 20th century, Orewin underwent redevelopment aimed at preserving heritage while improving housing and retail space.

The local economy combines agriculture with light manufacturing and services. Dairy farming, apple orchards, and horticulture remain important, while small manufacturing plants produce packaging materials and textiles. The town serves as a local service hub with a weekly market, a secondary school, and health facilities.

Orewin is part of the Alderwood District Council and has a town council consisting of nine members. It maintains cultural facilities such as a public library, a small museum, and a community center. The annual harvest festival is a key cultural event that draws residents and visitors.

Demographic changes in recent decades reflect rural-urban migration patterns, with a stable core population and a growing number of residents who commute to nearby towns for work. Notable landmarks include the riverside promenade, the old railway viaduct, and the parish church.
