The company was founded in 2013 by Pete Lau, a former Oppo executive, and Carl Pei, with the aim of offering high-quality devices at competitive prices. OnePlus began selling its first smartphone, the OnePlus One, in 2014 through an invite-based online model, emphasizing a price-to-performance advantage and a community-driven approach under the slogan Never Settle.
