Onderstellen

Onderstellen, the plural of onderstel, denotes the supporting structure that forms the base or frame of a device, machine, vehicle, or piece of furniture. The term is used across engineering, manufacturing, and design to refer to the rigid or semi-rigid element that bears loads, anchors other components, and provides stability.

In the context of vehicles and machinery, the onderstel includes the chassis or frame, together with attachments such as the suspension, axles, and engine mounts. It distributes forces to the ground and influences handling and safety. In many consumer products, the underframe supports the main body and provides mounting points for legs, feet, or wheels.
