Ombrone

Ombrone is a river in Tuscany, central Italy. It rises in the Apennines and flows generally southwest across the southern region, discharging into the Tyrrhenian Sea near Talamone, south of Grosseto. The river forms the main watercourse of the Val di Ombrone, a broad agricultural plain that supports crops such as cereals, olives, and vineyards. The Ombrone collects water from several tributaries and drains a sizable watershed that shapes the hydrology of the southern Tuscan countryside.

Historically, the Ombrone has supported settlement and economic activity along its course, including mills and irrigation

Environmental challenges include seasonal low flows, pollution from agricultural runoff, and sedimentation from land use changes.
