Oldószerdeszorpció

Oldószerdeszorpció, sometimes referred to as solvent desorption, is a physical process where a substance that has been adsorbed onto a surface or into a porous material is released into a solvent. This is the reverse process of adsorption, where molecules from a liquid or gas phase adhere to a solid surface. In desorption, the presence of a solvent facilitates the detachment of the adsorbed molecules.

The driving force behind solvent desorption is the affinity of the solvent molecules for the adsorbed species. When a solvent with a higher affinity for the adsorbed molecules is introduced, it can displace them from the adsorbent surface. The process is influenced by factors such as the nature of the adsorbed substance, the adsorbent material, the properties of the solvent (e.g., polarity, solubility), and temperature.

Solvent desorption finds applications in various fields. In chromatography, it is a crucial step for eluting or separating analytes from the stationary phase using a mobile phase (solvent). In purification processes, it can be used to remove unwanted adsorbed impurities from a material.
