Oilers

Oilers is a term used to refer to multiple entities in sports and industry. The Edmonton Oilers are a professional ice hockey team based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The franchise began in 1972 as a WHA team and joined the NHL in 1979 after the leagues merged. They have won five Stanley Cup championships—in 1984, 1985, 1987, 1988 and 1990—during a dynasty that featured players such as Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Jari Kurri and Paul Coffey. Home games are played at Rogers Place in downtown Edmonton, which opened in 2016; prior venues include Northlands Coliseum (Rexall Place).
