Oikeusasemien

Oikeusasemien are a part of the Finnish legal system, responsible for unified general court proceedings in Finland. The name roughly translates to "summary courts" or "brief courts" but their role is more akin to a central or regional hub for lower-level court cases.

Finnish oikeusasemien function as entry points for various types of cases. Cases typically start at these assems for initial processing, and jurisdictions along with claims are assessed and reassigned. There are 24 oikeusneuvos -led general courts in Finland, each with a simultaneous oikeudinpito area that handles various aspects of the judicial process. In practice, oikeusasemien courts deal with several different general case types.

Oikeusasemien decisions are based on procedural law and may dictate further court proceedings in regional courts.
