Ogliastra
Ogliastra is a historic region in eastern Sardinia, Italy. It lies along the Tyrrhenian Sea and is framed inland by the Gennargentu mountains. The coastline along the Gulf of Orosei features rugged cliffs, coves, and beaches, while the interior includes high peaks, plateaus, and karst landscapes. Administratively, Ogliastra existed as a separate province until 2016, when it was merged into the Province of Nuoro, and today it is commonly treated as a geographical and historical area rather than an autonomous province.
Geographically diverse, the region encompasses parts of the Gennargentu range and coastal zones within the Gulf
Historically, Ogliastra has been inhabited since ancient times and hosts Nuragic remains, tombs of the giants
Among its towns, Lanusei, Tortolì, Bari Sardo, Orgosolo, Ulassai and Arzana serve as cultural and administrative
