Oberbodens

Oberbodens is a municipality in the Northhelm district of the state of Northland, in the country of Elaria. It covers a rural area characterized by rolling hills, mixed forests, and agricultural fields. The municipal center is the village of Oberbodens, which hosts the town hall and most public services. The elevation ranges from 210 to 320 meters above sea level, and the area experiences a temperate climate with moderate precipitation.

As of the latest census, Oberbodens has about 2,800 residents. The population is aging slightly, with a stable birth rate and a growing number of commuters who work in the regional center to the north.

Historically, Oberbodens is documented from the 13th century and developed as a rural community focused on farming and forestry. In 1972, a municipal reform consolidated several smaller communities into Oberbodens. The local government consists of a 12-member municipal council and a mayor elected for six-year terms.

The economy is primarily based on agriculture, dairy farming, and light manufacturing in small workshops. Many residents work in nearby towns, while the municipality provides services such as schooling, healthcare, and retail at the local level.

Culturally, Oberbodens preserves a 15th-century church, St. Nikolaus, and a small Heimatmuseum that chronicles regional history. An annual harvest festival in autumn and weekly club activities are central to community life. Oberbodens is served by regional roads and a local railway line, with a bus network connecting to the regional center. The municipality maintains a town partnership with Obermark in nearby Lyria.
