OPCTrommel

OPCTrommel is an open-source software platform designed to monitor and control trommels used in mining and mineral processing. It integrates with OPC standards to gather data from sensors and actuators on trommels and to expose this data to operators and other systems.

The core components include an OPC UA client for connecting to field devices, a time-series historian for storing measurements, a processing engine for calculations and alerts, and a web-based user interface for dashboards and configurations. Data collected may include drum rotation speed, motor current, feed rate, moisture content, material size distribution, and drum load.

Key features include real-time monitoring, historical trend analysis, configurable alarms and maintenance events, support for data export, and an extensible plug-in architecture for incorporating domain-specific analytics such as throughput optimization or predictive maintenance.

Deployment scenarios include industrial mining operations, ore processing facilities, and research environments. The project emphasizes interoperability, security, and portability, with support for Linux and Windows and standard OPC UA communications.

OPCTrommel is developed by a community of contributors and is released under an open-source license. Documentation covers installation, configuration, and integration with OPC UA servers, as well as guidelines for extending the platform with new sensors and analytics.
