ODanalyse

ODanalyse is a web‑based analytics platform designed to support the collection, processing, and visualisation of Official Development Assistance (ODA) data. The tool was launched in 2017 by a consortium of multilateral development institutions, including the World Bank Group and the United Nations Development Programme, with the goal of improving transparency and comparability of aid statistics. ODA uses the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) standards, and ODAalyse incorporates these standards to enable the import of IATI XML files as well as CSV or Excel spreadsheets containing donor, recipient, and sector information.

Key functions of the platform include automated data cleaning, disaggregation by sectoral categories such as health, education, and infrastructure, and the ability to generate time‑series charts and heat maps that illustrate funding flows between donors and recipient countries. Users can create dashboards that combine multiple indicators, apply filters for specific aid programmes, and export results in common formats for reporting or further analysis. The interface supports both a simplified view aimed at policy makers and a more detailed data‑exploration mode for researchers.

ODanalyse is governed by a set of open‑source agreements; the source code is available on GitHub under the MIT licence. The platform receives periodic updates that add new visualisation modules and integrate changes to the IATI schema. Because of its open architecture and strong emphasis on standardised data, ODAalyse is frequently cited in academic studies on aid effectiveness and is used as a reference point in donor country reporting.
