Næsespidsen

Næsespidsen, or the tip of the nose, is the most inferior part of the external nose. It is a prominent feature of the face, contributing significantly to facial aesthetics. Anatomically, the næsespidsen is primarily composed of cartilage, specifically the greater alar cartilages, which form its shape and provide structural support. The skin covering the næsespidsen is generally thicker and richer in sebaceous glands compared to other areas of the nose. This can sometimes lead to issues like acne or blackheads on the tip.

It is a critical element in rhinoplasty procedures, where surgeons may modify its structure to improve nasal symmetry and overall facial harmony. The næsespidsen also plays a functional role in olfaction, directing airflow into the nasal cavity. Furthermore, it is a sensitive area, containing numerous nerve endings that contribute to tactile sensation. Changes in the color of the næsespidsen, such as redness, can sometimes be indicative of underlying health conditions.
