Närvikonduktiostud, a Swedish term, translates to nerve conduction study in English. It is a diagnostic test used to evaluate the health and function of peripheral nerves. This electrodiagnostic technique measures how quickly electrical signals travel along a nerve. By applying small electrical impulses to a nerve and recording the response with electrodes placed on the skin, clinicians can assess the nerve's integrity and identify any damage or abnormalities.

The procedure typically involves two parts: nerve conduction studies (NCS) and electromyography (EMG). NCS measures the speed and strength of electrical signals traveling along the nerve. EMG, on the other hand, evaluates the electrical activity within the muscles, which are controlled by the nerves. Together, these tests help diagnose a wide range of neurological conditions affecting the peripheral nervous system.

Närvikonduktiostud is commonly used to diagnose conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, sciatica, peripheral neuropathy (often associated with diabetes), and nerve injuries.
