Näppälykuvioiden, often translated as "touch patterns" or "fingerprint patterns," refers to the distinct arrangements of ridges on the skin of fingers and thumbs. These patterns are unique to each individual and are formed during fetal development. The primary types of näppälykuvioiden are arches, loops, and whorls. Arches are characterized by ridges that enter from one side of the finger, rise in the center, and exit on the opposite side. Loops have ridges that enter from one side, recurve, and exit on the same side. Whorls are more complex, with ridges forming circular or spiral patterns.
