Nyirokszövetcsomó

Nyirokszövetcsomó, also known as a lymph node, is a small, bean-shaped organ found throughout the body's lymphatic system. These nodes are integral components of the immune system, acting as filters for lymph fluid. Lymph fluid, a clear to yellowish liquid, circulates through the body, collecting waste products, cellular debris, and foreign substances like bacteria and viruses. As this fluid passes through the nyirokszövetcsomó, specialized immune cells within the node, primarily lymphocytes and macrophages, identify and neutralize these harmful agents.

There are hundreds of nyirokszövetcsomók located in various regions of the body, including the neck, armpits, groin, and abdomen. They are interconnected by a network of lymphatic vessels, forming a crucial defense line. When the body encounters an infection or inflammation, the nyirokszövetcsomók in the affected area may enlarge and become tender to the touch, a phenomenon commonly referred to as swollen glands. This enlargement is a sign that the immune system is actively working to combat the pathogen.
