Nyansettelse

Nyansettelse refers to the process of integrating a new employee into an organization. It encompasses recruitment, selection, signing of an employment contract, and the initial period of employment commonly known as onboarding or induction. In HR usage, nyansettelse denotes the status of having been hired and being part of the workforce.

Process and components typically include a job offer, the employment contract, an onboarding plan, an introduction to the team, access to information technology systems, training, and the setting of performance expectations. In Norway, a probation period (prøvetid) is commonly used and may last up to six months; during this time either party may terminate with shorter notice as specified in the contract. Successful nyansettelse often involves structured orientation to the company culture, roles, and responsibilities, as well as provision of necessary tools and access to relevant systems.

Administrative and legal aspects may apply, particularly for foreign workers. To work in Norway, non-citizens may require a residence or work permit, and employees are typically registered with the tax authorities (Skatteetaten). Depending on circumstances, registration with social security schemes or pension arrangements may also be involved, either directly through the employer or via national schemes.
