Nullpfade

Nullpfade, literally “zero paths” in German, is a term used in mathematics and related disciplines to describe paths for which a chosen aggregate measure evaluates to zero. The precise definition depends on the context, but it commonly refers to a path whose cumulative weight or flux cancels out.

In discrete settings such as signed graphs, a Nullpfad is a path in which the sum of edge weights along the sequence is zero. In continuous settings, it can denote a curve where a line integral of a vector field along the path vanishes. Thus, the concept covers both finite, combinatorial objects and continuous, geometric ones, with the common feature that contributions along the path cancel.
