NuLu

NuLu, short for New Louisville, is a neighborhood and cultural district in Louisville, Kentucky, United States. Located just northeast of downtown Louisville, it centers along East Market Street, with the historic commercial corridors extending toward Main Street and beyond. The area is known for a concentration of galleries, studios, antique stores, boutiques, and eateries, many housed in former warehouses and brick commercial buildings.

The district emerged in the late 20th and early 21st centuries as part of Louisville's urban renewal, transforming aging warehouses into mixed-use spaces for arts, dining, and retail. The name NuLu was popularized to reflect a new, creative identity for the area.

NuLu has become an arts and small-business hub, attracting residents, visitors, and artists. The neighborhood hosts the First Friday Gallery Hop, a monthly event in which participating galleries stay open late and art is showcased along Market Street. The area features several galleries, studios, and craft businesses, as well as notable dining options and craft breweries.

Notable institutions: The district is anchored by facilities such as the 21c Museum Hotel Louisville, which combines a contemporary art museum with lodging and dining. Additional cultural venues and pop-up installations contribute to the district's reputation as a cultural corridor.
